Jakarta Commits to Strengthen Waste Management Synergy

"We use these maggot worms as a medium for decomposing organic waste, such as food waste, to make useful products with economic value," he said, Monday (11/4).

Fuad explained that the waste is processed naturally using maggot larvae from the Black Soldier Fly (BSF). After becoming prepupae, maggots become useful and have economic value, especially as animal feed.

"We cultivate these maggots starting from mating, becoming larvae, until they are ready to be harvested when they are 21 days old or what is called prepupa," he explained.

Hopefully, he added, the cultivation of maggots for household waste management can be developed more widely in the community. In addition to make the area clean, these maggots can produce economic value that can increase income.
